Solid Wood Sideboards: The Craft Secrets Experts Keep Quiet
Dieser Post ist von 02. Jul 2016 by Livarea.
These days, a sideboard is an essential piece in any living area. Although the sideboard, also known as a credenza, is still used for storing crockery and glasses, in modern households, a sideboard also serves as a TV cabinet. A robust solid wood sideboard is perfectly suited to its diverse uses and is simultaneously an eye-catcher in the living room. In this article, we take a brief look behind the scenes of the production of a solid wood sideboard – from timber harvesting and further processing in the factory to the final assembly of the furniture piece.
Timber Harvesting for Solid Wood Sideboards
The first step in sideboard production is the provision of raw timber for further processing. An environmentally friendly alternative to oak or ash for the manufacture of a sideboard is Parawood, which is obtained from the rubber tree. It is a high-quality, very stable hardwood that is resistant to temperature fluctuations. Due to these properties, Parawood is the ideal raw material for high-quality cabinet furniture.

Before sideboard production, the timbers are processed in the factory into semi-finished products such as battens, strips, boards, and squared timbers. These are solid wood materials with standardised, uniform dimensions. This is the prerequisite for the cost-efficient production of furniture series, which, despite identical basic dimensions, remain individual because the naturally grown raw materials show individual differences. State-of-the-art, large-format woodworking machines ensure precise cutting results.

With the carefully prepared Parawood semi-finished products, experienced joiners proceed to the final step of manufacturing a sideboard. Profound know-how in wood processing is necessary, as wood does not always grow perfectly. If processed incorrectly, wood can easily splinter, crack, or show burn marks. This requires the eye of a specialist who knows where drilling is permissible and where it is not. Only in this way can each sideboard become an individual masterpiece that enhances your kitchen or living room.
