IMM 2016: The Furniture Fair's Hidden Gems & Future Trends
On Sunday, this year's International Furniture Fair closed its doors. The IMM 2016 was open from 18th to 24th January and presented the latest trends from the furniture world to 80,000 trade visitors and interior design enthusiasts. Livarea was there for you and took a closer look at the new products.
Test Sitting at Prostoria: Fabric Instead of Leather
Prostoria's stand was solid and without much fuss. A place to rest and relax. All important models were present and could be test-sat. It was noticeable that this year no leather sofa was exhibited. All models were presented in high-quality covers and looked good. The modern and timeless shapes of the sofas have the advantage that you can go wild with colours – if you wish. For example, the popular Match Sofa was exhibited in bright red this year.

Among all the well-known sofas, a newcomer had also snuck in, which wasn't noticeable at first glance. The new addition among the sofas is a chaise longue from the Combine series. In light canvas fabric with oak wooden legs, it will certainly look good in some living rooms.

Another novelty at IMM 2016 was the modern Convert modular sofa, which, like the Segment Sofa, is available in various versions and can also be combined as a corner sofa if desired. The designer sofa is typically Prostoria: simple and understated, yet functional. If desired, the backrest can be folded up to form a headrest. Visually, it is definitely an IMM 2016 highlight for us, thanks to its well-thought-out yet minimalist design.

IMM 2016 Highlight: Handmade Solid Wood Furniture from Japan
In Hall 11.3 – Stand P020, we met a very special manufacturer. As we at Livarea are always looking for exclusive furniture, which is unfortunately hard to find, we were particularly pleased with the chairs and tables from Conde House.

The quality of craftsmanship is so high that you can see, even without touching, how velvety the wood surface is and how flawlessly the transitions have been crafted.

Conde House's range is manageable and includes a handful of chairs and tables. As with a good restaurant, this appeals to us and shows that the Japanese truly focus on the essentials to deliver first-class products.

We particularly liked the new Kamuy chair by designer Naoto Fukasawa. The beautiful grain of the American walnut wood is so velvety smooth that you could say you're sitting on a chair that is a delight to touch.
All Conde House furniture is 100% handmade in Japan. The woods are stored for 10 years and processed in such a way that each piece of furniture then lasts a lifetime. This not only sounds good, but you can also feel and see it upon first contact with the products from the Japanese furniture manufacturer.

Presumably, that's precisely why German designer Michael Schneider also designed a product for Conde House. The Ten chair, which means 'Heaven' in German, describes the chair's light design. The backrest is made of highly flexible plastic with a black-transparent high-gloss finish or in upholstered leather. Depending on the interior style, the chair can be produced in walnut, oak, and ash. Each Conde House Ten chair is unique, but due to the high precision of the Japanese, you won't see any difference. 😉

IMM Highlights Sofa Beds of the Absolute Top Class
Livarea's range exclusively comprises high-quality products. The focus is not only on modern and appealing design, but also on first-class everyday usability. We found precisely these qualities with the sofa bed manufacturer Pol74 from Italy.

However, we are honest and know that a design sofa bedis not for the 80-year-old grandma who visits us at Christmas. Precisely for this reason, we took a closer look at the manufacturer Pol74.

Pol74's sofa beds are not visually too bulky and can be perfectly adapted to all needs in over 300 fabrics. Each sofa bed can be equipped in various widths, with different armrests and with different upholstery. This is only possible because each sofa bed is produced only to order for you.

However, the highlight of every sofa bed is the extremely stable and impressive folding mechanism. The bed can be unfolded in an instant with a single movement. Inside, there is a high-quality mattress with a pressure-sensitive topper and integrated slatted frame. This combination is unique for a sofa bed and ensures unparalleled sleeping comfort, just like in a boxspring bed.

Functionally and technically completely up-to-date, the Multibed bunk bed also presents itself. Almost playfully, a modern children's room sofa can be transformed into a double bed, which leaves nothing to be desired with a child safety lock and a fabric-covered steel construction.

Many sofas at IMM 2016 were upholstered with high-quality fabrics; leather was only seen on the well-known brands. Therefore, Livarea will also offer some popular leather sofas from our range in fabric from now on.
Wood is strongly back in trend and can also be well combined with lacquered furniture. For this reason, you will soon find more wooden TV furniture on our site, as well as the beautiful solid wood furniture from Conde House.
